Resettlement
The Resettlement Service at EHAG has long been providing a wide range of support to those seeking to move on from existing - perhaps temporary or hostel accommodation - into more independent and permanent accommodation.
However, dramatic changes in our funding income and the loss of several key contracts towards the end of 2005 led to downsizing the team to one full time and one part time member of staff. This forced major reviews of our service delivery and how we could develop new initiatives in order to meet unmet needs.
Today, the service continues to provide valuable advice and assistance for a range of differing client groups.
The Resettlement Service works closely with SmartMove in order to help support some of their clients, and can access this service to assist the ‘move on’ of clients seeking help with a deposit for their own accommodation.
In conjunction with EHAG’s Advice Service, the Resettlement Service provides a weekly housing service for the Devon & Cornwall Probation Service in Exeter, and can offer further floating support to this client group if required.
We also offer a similar service to Wonford Hospital to assist the ‘move on’ of patients in housing need, which is proving to be highly successful.
During the past year, the Resettlement Service worked with 168 people: 97 through the ‘Supporting People’ contract, 33 from the offenders or ex-offenders client group, and 38 from Wonford Hospital.
